The Perfect Friday Night ... 

Champagne in tumblers and smileyness are a good way to begin a Friday night.

If you add a tower of delicious cakes to the equation, all the better.

In fact, the more cakes the better.

An atmospheric backdrop of artfully placed candles is an optional extra.

As is a personal chef who makes the best homemade pizza ever.

However, good company is a must. And I couldn’t have hoped for better than Claire Ptak, author of The Whoopie Pie Book, and Bethan Jones, publicist extraordinaire.

Claire held a tea party for the launch of her book, at her East London bakery, Violet.

The guests tucked in to the cakes and fizz well into the night. Munch.

When we did leave, it was in a warm afterglow of champagne, sugar and conviviality. Armed with whoopies for loved ones. Set up for the weekend. Thanks to the perfect Friday night.
