Angela Carter is one of my all time favourite writers and this is a fantastic collection of stories (one of which was made into the film Company of Wolves I think). They are incredibly vividly described, often unsettling and completely unforgettable - I can still remember the ending of The Tiger's Bride now. I re-read them every year or so and they just seem to get better,

A beautiful collection of stories, The Bloody Chamber is full of haunting gothic imagery- and the writing is fantastic, definitely Angela Carter at her most richly evocative. I found these reworkings of traditional fairytales brilliantly clever and often unsettling- they feel both familiar and strange at the once.
